The Mines and the Kilns
Two specific routes have been designed — the “Ruta dos Fornos” and the “Ruta das Minas” — to bring visitors closer to the rich mining past of this municipality. Along either of these routes, visitors can explore the most representative elements of an early 20th-century iron mining operation, such as the iron calcination kilns, the old railway station, the mineral loading hoppers, the pillars of the former mining cableway, the entrance to the Consuelo mine, several mining tunnels, and more.
Taking advantage of the remaining pillars of the old mining cableway, a giant zip line over 300 meters long is planned to be installed in the coming months, following the same path as the original aerial cable.
