Eo River Fishing and Leisure

A way to preserve and highlight the remaining mining-industrial heritage from the past is by repurposing it for new uses, related not only to cultural tourism but also to active and adventure tourism.

The Eo is one of the most important salmon rivers on the Iberian Peninsula. As the centerpiece of the “Festa da Troita,” it attracts numerous anglers each year from various Autonomous Communities. In 1986, it was declared a National Sports Interest Competition by the National Fishing Federation and, starting in 1999, also recognized as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia.

In Salmeán, you will find the old fishermen’s shelter, which currently houses the salmon tagging center for the section of the Eo River that runs through the municipality of A Pontenova.
